Hidden Structures of the Mandelbrot and Julia Sets
An exploration of the correlations between the Mandelbrot Set and the Julia Sets for z^2 + c. Followed by some flybys of the full Mandelbrot/Julia structures. Finally, an attempt to show the complete 4D Mandelbrot Set..with partial success.

Julia Set Axis Sweep
Переглядів 49 тис.7 років тому
An animation of the Julia sets z^2 c along the x axis followed by a scan along the i axis. (If you don't like my music, hit the mute button!) (Rebuilt the video so it is in true HD...I'm still not sure about the colors...can't seem to make it brighter without losing detail...perhaps I should stop using purple!)
3D Julia Set Sweep #1
Переглядів 4,2 тис.7 років тому
All the Julia sets for z^2 c where c goes from -2 0i to the end of the set at 0.25 0i. Each set is then stacked on each other to give a 3D object. Created with a program I whipped up that generates an include file of cylinders read by Povray which raytraced the result. Each Julia set was calculated with a max iteration of 200 and a dots-per-unit of 200. Each complete set is separated from the n...
Music is way too loud, i cant hear your voice
A beautiful nightmare
Imagine ifn only Mandelbrot himself could see what has become of his original plotting of the equation , , , Damnimp has created a masterpiece , , ,
I like this music
Music is a good once but Julia is has juliaset://?code=98E386C1974898B644FA00FE with this
The Julia sets with Mandelbrot juliaset://?code=98E386C1974898B644FA00FE
まるで筋繊維みたいですね
Not a great start to the video, I can't tell what the difference is between the Julia set and the Mandelbrot set. Equations are the same, rules are the same, why do they look different? What is the difference?
Man, the music is so distracting!
the music is dope
It's the shape of out universe. Lanhiakea looks very similar to some of the patterns in the end
of our universe
why would our universe be z²+c? Wanna explain that?
@@Im_Rainrot I dont know. looks very much like this. A lot of similar structures. Fibonacci numbers belong to our universe,ut they are within z²+c fractals also/
Lame explanation
I like to wonder if these images represent something, it would be so cool if they're like the frozen image of the decoupling of light and matter billions of years ago or some sort of projection of the first instant of life or DNA.
0:17 my fav
How did you render it? I really want to learn it! That's so beautiful!
z^2 + c = mandelbrot z^2 + ci = Julia set?
This video would be far easier to watch without music.
1:50 Why z = z² + c? Why not z³ or abs z²?
because mandelbrot set is specifically z²+c, you can perfectly run other equations, but mandelbrot set is z²+c
C is complex plane. X is real axis. Y is IMAGINARY axis.
Dude just casually dropping supercomputer level simulations of every possible Julia set like it’s no biggie. Mad
Man my hungry ass sees too much fishes
Are you still alive? Can you help me write code to visualize a set? It's too complex for my programs to work with..
Must not be never see any responses... A visual like this will kill a man
music too loud
Aha! So THAT is where the parabolas were hiding! I knew they had to be somewhere, what with the equation being a quadratic!
Looks like that's the part of the 4d set that is real for both z and c. I wish the videos on Mandelbrot and Julia sets showed that first, since it starts with something already intuitive.
so good, thanks for making this video my doug
in a nutshell julia sets are sets where you choose a constant c yourself and let z span over the complex plane. the mandelbrot set is the set where z starts from 0 and c spans over the complex plane. both are formed by the map z -> z^2+c and finding which values of z or c cause z to escape to infinity or not.
You mentioned in a previous video. Which one is that exactly? Very interesting stuff, thanks a lot. (EDIT: Ah there are 2 other videos, so silly question really :D )
video kinda dark (in terms of brightness)
mandelbrot videos have no business going this hard. Excellent work: the most unique and enjoyable fractal video on the internet
the 3D view resembles muscle tissue.
Can we get the music for this ?
tf with the background music we're learning about fractals not planning a heist

Oh thanks man!!! I was thinking before that one should visualize all Julia set along the real axis in a 3d model. I dont know how to do it and than I found your video. Awesom work! I would like to know what tools you used? I have also in mind the to make a 3d model of all "Multibrot" sets, meaning change the exponent of the equation gradually -> z_n+1 = z_n ^ x + c and let x range from 1 to infinity.
Me when Gacha Club: Me: what?? Me: * grows her third eye* Me: i made the same thing. The end
I have NO IDEA why you bothered with a musical track in the background. Call me a weirdo if you want, but it annoys me when broadcasters convey factual information with a musical backdrop - for drama, raising expectations, or instilling emotional reactions - when words alone would be perfectly adequate to create that impact. So I stop watching after 1 minute because I feel like I'm being patronised to the point of insult. If you don't understand, read this out aloud to back drop of "Rondo Alla Turca" played by ukulele and kazoo.
12:27 why you ruin the funny triangle
add membranes on the border? possible?
Can we get access to the music used?
I am on a heroic dose of shrooms and acid at the moment. I think fractals are 2d projections of 4d shapes
I wonder if you could make a 3d model by combining these two

Isn't it just beautiful. Thank you for sharing it with us lucky ones.

Music way too loud, barely possible to hear voice. Look up ducking, or how to do side-channel ducking.
11:35 I love how it syncs
